Enter cumulative elapsed times, not individual 100m times. For example: 200m = 28.0, 400m = 57.0, finish = 1:57.0. Leave unknown checkpoints blank. No splits are filled in for you.
For an 800m pacing comparison, enter at least 400m and finish. For 1500m, enter at least 1000m and finish. Add other checkpoints to see individual sections.

Coverage and how to interpret this
Only 800m and 1500m are included. Mile races are kept out. Championship finals include Worlds, Olympics and the Ultimate Championship; select All races to include Diamond League meetings. The archive is a selection of elite races, not a complete history of every athlete. Obvious name-order and accent variants are combined within the same sex and country. Original names remain attached to each source record; these are not verified World Athletics identity links.
Reference profiles use complete, usable analyses and the same event, sex and competition type. One race per athlete is selected closest to the chosen opening pace, with the latest race breaking a tie. The selected database athlete is excluded; manual entries cannot be identified. At least five distinct athletes across three races are required. Winners and podium groups exclude races without the relevant usable splits. No missing checkpoints are interpolated.
Final checkpoints use the official finishing time. Intermediate times are usually rounded to tenths; derived sections should not be interpreted to hundredths. A position change describes checkpoint order, not the exact moment or cause of an overtake. Positional comparisons stay within the selected race. Pacemakers who did not finish are absent from the finisher archive; unidentified pacing roles cannot be separated.
The 800m differential is second 400m minus first 400m. It mathematically includes the opening time, so a trend does not prove a physiological weakness or an optimum pace. The 1500m view compares first 1000m with last 500m. Dashed total-time lines are arithmetic guides. Comparisons do not control for fitness, weather, tactics or pre-race ability; a stronger or weaker finish is descriptive, not a prediction or training prescription.
Each recorded race links to its source PDF where available. Missing or flagged profiles remain visible for inspection but are excluded from reference averages and pacing plots.
